Τεκμήριο Market anomalies and factor models(2025-11-03) Tzortzaki, Maria-Ioanna; Τζωρτζάκη, Μαρία-Ιωάννα; Skouras, Spyros; Varthalitis, Petros; Topaloglou, NikolaosThis thesis is mainly based on the examination of the authenticity of the stock market returns. and the extent to which they can influence the return of the portfolio in which they are included. The thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical and the empirical parts. The theoretical part starts with a brief description of the most important asset pricing models and their mathematical formulations and then subsequently a concise overview of the thirteen stock market anomalies and the different kinds that exist in the market follows, which are used in the empirical application in Unit 5. Finally, there is a reference to the risk of the financial sector in general, followed by an analysis of the risk measures that are used for the quantification of risk. In the empirical part, the application that follows is divided into two kinds of tests, the in-sample test which is the statistical test and the out of sample test, which is the dynamic test of the analysis. The aim of these tests is to examine whether the thirteen stock market anomalies can influence the returns of the portfolio that includes them, in other words to observe if they are authentic anomalies of the stock market and if the portfolios that include them can have higher returns than the ones that do not include them. Last but not least, there is a presentation of the results of the empirical tests that were executed and the conclusions that were made during the research.
