Περίληψη :This dissertation uses Data Envelopment Analysis method, to identify and decompose the efficiency frontier of the Greek Regions. The efficiency frontier is the extension of the production function of regions. Data Envelopment Analysis as a nonparametric mathematical programming method measuring the efficiency of each region and is an important tool for every policymaker or decision maker. In more detail, the purpose of this dissertation is to find the effectiveness of Greek regions during the period 2001-2012 using the variables Labor force, investments, electricity consumption and per capita GDP for all 13 Greek regions. While assuming both constant returns to scale and variable returns to scale, it is also assumed that electricity consumption could be handled as an output. The outcomes of this frontier analysis can be used from investors to policymakers- of the Greek government or European Institutions- in order to allocate funds and foster this way economic activity.
