Περίληψη :This dissertation discusses Public-Private Partnerships as contractual agreements between a government sponsored entity and a private entity for implementing projects regarding public infrastructure and services. With an eye on the Greek experience it exhibits the institutional context of such contractual relationship between public and private sector. In a view of the microeconomic analysis, it highlights the efficiency gains of Public-Private Partnerships as an organizational form that bundles the contractual phases of construction and managing a project. Building on the contract theory, analysis thoroughly examines the optimal incentive structures in Public- Private Partnership contracts as well as the risk allocation between the contractual parties. It also studies the impact of private financing and regulatory risk in such projects. The conclusion summarizes policy implications on the suitability of Public- Private Partnerships.
